Digital Dentistry Frequently Asked Questions
What are the differences between conventional implants and All-on-4 dental implants?
In All-on-4 method only 4 implants are planted to each arch, on the other hand, conventional method suggests using implants ranging from 6 to 8 and sometimes even more depending on the situation. Since our implants are planted at an angle, they also ease the process by increasing the contact through a natural support from your bone. As there is no need for bone graft during treatment for most of our patients that is highly common for conventional implantation processes thus you will be saving money, time and for sure your happiness.
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is the most practical way of healing your tooth loss and major decays in general. Thanks to high quality titanium, our implants are perfected to serve as permanent solutions for your tooth loss due to support and stability they add their high durable nature
Is it compulsory to have no teeth after replacement?
Since it is an operational treatment, there will be a healing process during given time but we will be providing you a temporary set of teeth on your implants so you will be walking out of our clinic easily. As follow up, your permanent teeth will be fitted into your mouth after your healing process is done which is roughly eight months after your surgery.
How long dental treatment take?
Implants and temporary tooth can usually be inserted simultaneously. In other cases, however, implants must heal in your mouth for several months before finalizing the operation. Lower jaw operations take 3 months whereas upper jaw operations take 6 months until they fully integrate to your bone. You should remember every patient has different healing periods, meanwhile your progress will be monitored meticulously by our team.
Does it hurt?
We make sure you feel no pain during procedure by applying local anaesthesia to numb the nerves around dental implant area. It is a common thing to feel slight pressure, but this should not dishearten you since it is quite natural
How can I get better looking teeth and smile?
Caps and Crowns are the solution, they have the look of a natural tooth. These materials use root as a foundation to settle, later are fused together with special mix. Veneers and bonding increase your smiling quality, when these are being applied, a layer of whitening material is sticked on natural tooth. You should always ask your doctor to learn the right approach.
I want to change the shape of my teeth, how?
You have various options to pick from, your teeth could be extended, gaps closed, and chips repaired. However, other options are; bonding, crowns, veneers and re-contouring. Bonding is essentially where tooth’s surface is covered by a special mix of resin (strong plastic material) and strengthened with a special light, it is to say, mix is attached to the tooth. Crowns, however, are caps placed over teeth to encase the visible parts of tooth that is situated above gum line. Veneers (porcelain veneers, dental porcelain laminates) are thin, custom-designed materials that are crafted to cover the front side of the teeth. These veneers are bonded to the front teeth. Lastly, re-contouring, in other words, reshaping of teeth (odontoplasty, enameloplasty) is the process where small amount of tooth enamel is stripped off to adjust tooth length, its shape and/or surface. Every option has unique cost, durability, and treatment period to achieve the desired result as most cosmetic as possible to solve the problem. We would gladly help you with each.
What differs between Zirconium and Porcelain crowns?
Zirconium has great durability and usually lasts longer than porcelain counterpart. Porcelain crowns require replacement after few years. However, zirconium has shown that it has %99 survival rate after 5 years. zirconium has different colours and highly translucent.
Periodontal Disease
It is the gum and supporting bone inflammation and infection, if left untreated, it may lead to permanent jawbone and tooth loss. This disease is also linked to heart diseases, strokes, respiratory diseases and prostate cancer. An advanced stage of this disease leaves patient with inflamed gums. Bad breath, swollen gums, loose teeth are some of the indicators. Early periodontal disease can be healed in-office; however, advanced stages require surgery.
What is a dental bridge?
A dental bridging is the process of replacing of missing teeth. If you suffer from missing teeth there might be unseen gaps between your teeth. If these gaps are left unfilled, you may experience bone loss, and this can have negative impact on your facial features. A bridge connects two crowns and contains a false tooth called “pontic” that is situated between two crowns. “Pontic” is placed into the gap caused by missing tooth and flanked on both sides by the two crowns. The crown is fitted on your natural teeth. These two anchored teeth are called “abutment teeth”. Above mentioned Pontic could be fabricated by using porcelain, gold, alloy, or any mix of these. Bridging can hinder bone loss, gum deformations, and/or decays due to food debris where missing tooth is situated thus the pressure on both sides is supressed. Enamel-bonded bridges contain metal or porcelain framework to plant fabricated teeth which are then bonded to supporting teeth. If you maintain your dental care as meticulously as possible, such as brushing your teeth twice daily, dental floss and check-ups, your dental bridge may be usable around 15 years. Dental bridge, overall, can deliver you a natural display along with solving problems with teeth regarding teeth. However, you should be careful about sensitivity issues since they are common but there is no need for concern for it is quite natural. Your dentist will guide you through the process.
How exactly does filling work?
Our dental flaws may leave permanent damage in our mouth. Cavities, for example, may break through the surface of enamel, if they are overlooked and not filled with fillings, damage could be worse. During operation, dentist will numb your mouth before drilling on cavity begins. A white mix, is then, poured onto cavity, it hardens and dries after which they will last for many years.
What does silver filling contain? Are they trustable?
Dentists use a filling technique called “Dental Amalgam” to restore the size and shape of a damaged teeth. This amalgam consists of alloy which includes silver, tin, copper, and liquid mercury. Amalgam is tested and verified to be safe and working among all filling materials. Mercury in this amalgam should be worried about since it is proven that there is no health issue linked to it when applied through filling. If you have doubts whether amalgam fits you or not, consult your doctor.
